Working in Doncaster
This is a truly exciting time to work in Doncaster.
We are realising massive investment and job creation in the borough, which continues to increase on an annual basis.
Almost £1billion has been invested into Doncaster since the millennium, funding exciting developments including the international airport, the Frenchgate transport interchange and retail complex, a new Community Sports Complex, a revamped racecourse, and the state-of-the-art Doncaster Education City (DEC), a multimillion-pound education and training initiative. Doncaster has no plans to stop the redevelopment, as the Borough looks forward to a new Civic and Cultural Quarter.
If we are to capitalise on this economic regeneration it is vital to make sure that the social and environmental benefits are maximised. That's why we need to make sure our schools get even better, our streets are safer and cleaner and that we put record levels of investment into public services for our vulnerable people. In doing so we will ensure that all our residents and businesses are provided with the highest quality services and access to the undoubted opportunities that are being created across Doncaster. Our goal is to create a city of European significance.
In order to achieve this we need to attract and retain a growing population with world-class skills, both in public services and growth industries that drive the regional economy. This website offers easy and quick access to some of the best vacancies in the area, including those in the public sector.
Through this website you will find all the current employment opportunities to be found in Doncaster Council, Doncaster College and many other organisations. We also offer information and advice to jobseekers and will provide access to a range of other sources of job opportunities.
Working for Doncaster Council
How the Council performs has a dramatic effect upon the success of the Borough.
Doncaster’s elected Mayor is the only one in Yorkshire and the Humber and one of only twelve nationally. The Mayor leads over 15,000 Council staff in serving around 140,000 households, setting policy and priorities, championing the regeneration of Doncaster but also ensuring that the Council is delivering quality services that meet local needs.
Local services are the main focus of any local authority and the Neighbourhood Management model has revolutionised the way the Council delivers its services. The new system divides the Borough up into areas, which are managed by a team of people that provide a range of services on residents’ doorsteps. Six area managers and 15 neighbourhood managers have been appointed to deliver services at a local level - local solutions are now applied to local problems.
A Mayoral Green and White Paper consultation system is allowing local people to have a far greater direct impact on the formulation of policy, addressing issues such as economic regeneration and special education needs.
